Does anyone else get tired of pumpkin spice hitting the shelves before the apples are even ready for harvest? Lately, it feels as though we have completely skipped over apple season in favor of pumpkin. And fall in favor of halloween. Well, I say its time to bring back the apples! And can we please wait until September has begun?

All About Apples

Don’t get me wrong, fall is my absolute favorite season. Cozy sweaters, boots, campfires and warm drinks are my love language. But I also love the summer and I would like to remain in the season I am in. Ever since having a child, I’ve recognized the urge to slow down and pause to enjoy the exact moment where I exist in time. And right now, that calls for apples. All the apples. We just planted two apple trees this year and for the first time I picked apples right from my front yard. It was beautiful, despite the fact that my apples were cracked and the trees covered in caterpillars and insects. I guess I have a lot of learning to do. Nonetheless, the apples are here and calling to be made into something delicious.

Apple Cider Latte Ingredients

An apple cider latte? Isn’t that a bit strange? I promise you it is the BEST latte I’ve ever had. And dare I say, it’s better than pumpkin spice. I used apple cider purchased from my local farm, fresh brewed coffee, raw milk from our local pasture raised farm and homemade whipped cream. Throw in some spices and maple syrup and you will have the most delicious warm fall beverage. Most lattes call for espresso shots, but I understand that most average people don’t have an espresso machine laying around their home. If you do, that’s amazing! Feel free to use espresso. But for us average people, we can just use a cup of very strong brewed coffee, and I promise it tastes just as good.

If you’re looking to up your coffee game, but don’t want to shell out tons of money for an espresso machine. Check out the coffee maker I use in my kitchen by clicking here. It makes single serve, multi-serve, half and whole pots, iced coffee and specialty concentrated brews. It also has a built in milk frother. And it doesn’t break the bank like a brand new espresso machine would cost. For this recipe, you can make a 4oz specialty brew.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1 cup fresh brewed coffee, or 2 shots espresso
  • 1/2 cup raw milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

Directions

  1. Brew your favorite coffee in your coffee maker.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium low heat, warm the apple cider with the maple syrup and pumpkin pie spice. Once the coffee is brewed, add it to your saucepan and whisk to combine.
  3. While the apple cider and coffee are warming, froth your raw milk and make your whipped cream. You can use an electric beater to whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Or you can use this hand held whipped cream maker that I use in my kitchen. Click here.
  4. Once the saucepan is warmed to your liking, pour the contents evenly into 2 mugs. Top each mug first with the frothed milk, then the whipped cream. Enjoy!
